Why can’t we get a 50 MPG car? The technology is there yet we cannot seem to break this barrier in the U.S. Over in Europe there are cars such as the Volkswagon Polo and Ford Fiesta that get upwards of 65 MPG. It seems that Electric cars lack in the range department and hybrid technology is fairly new. Toyota with their Plug-in Prius will definitely push the bar of fuel economy once more. Everyone was all excited when the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid was released. Big Stinking deal! Well the Escalade Hybrid gets 40% better fuel economy than the regular gas powered model. No shit, the regular one get a piss poor 12 MPG in city! And the Hybrid only manages to get 20 MPG….Well folks the Lexus blows those numbers away with its 30 MPG fuel economy. The Lexus is also way cheaper, looks better, and is more practical! Chew on that Detroit. Now I’m not
knocking American Automobiles (ok….just a little) but do we really need a 5800-lb. SUV? The Lexus RX weights a whopping 1200-lbs. less. All that extra weight the Escalade Hybrid carries around sure does hinder performance and handling! Oh and did I mention the Escalade Hybrid costs almost $30k more! Continue Reading »

There are those who will argue for days that the toll the Prius takes on the environment is greater than a non-hybrid powered car. They argue that the resources and materials it takes to create the hybrid system, more importantly the nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack, is very harmful to mother earth. Well we will leave the professionals to argue that point and we will strictly look at emissions.
The Prius burns less fuel and is considered a Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle” (AT-PZEV). This little hybrid produces far less Carbon Dioxide and other green house gases. Just look at the chart below to see just how much gas can be saved by switching over to a Prius. Lets say you drive 20,000 miles per year. You would save 336 gallons of gas and almost $1000 by driving a hybrid. And the harmful carbon dioxide and green house gas you would produce would be pretty much cut in half. I think Al Gore would approve. Continue Reading »
Doubling the gas mileage you get out of Toyota Prius would be nice! Well you can turn your little fuel efficient car in to a hard-core gas sipping, fuel saving beast with the addition of a Hymotion Plug-In kit for the Toyota Prius. The more your Prius can run in EV mode the better your gas mileage!
What does ten-thousand dollars mean to you? Most people spend that much on a set of dubs and a upgraded entertainment system for the Escalalde. Then there are those who throw 10 g’s away on all kinds of crap. Women probably spend that much on make-up and salon appointments in a year and men definitely spend that on beer and gambling in as much time. Well why not make the smart choice and opt for something that will save money and be less harmful to the environment. Continue Reading »
